2016 Men's State League Structure

2016 Men's State League Competitions

  • Capital League & Capital League Reserves (3pm & 1pm KO)
  • Division 1 & Division 2  (3pm & 1pm KO)
  • Division 3 & Division 4  (3pm & 1pm KO)
  • Division 5 & Division 6  (3pm & 1pm KO)
  • Division 7 & Division 8  (3pm & 1pm KO) *not restricted to 10 teams and not paired
  • Division 9 (11am KO) *not restricted to 10 teams and not paired
  • Division 10 (11am KO) *not restricted to 10 teams and not paired

Preference on teams being accepted into competitions will be based on paired nominations as well as 2015 ladder positioning. Teams will be moved up or down from team nominations as CF sees fit.

Divisions 7, 8, 9 and 10 do not need to be paired but allocations to a "home field" cannot be garunteed (home field to be moved to a field which can be paired with a team from a different club in a similar area to help woth referee allocations).

CF proposes that Division 7, 8, 9 and 10 are not paired due to oversubscription such as seen in 2015. This will allow lower level clubs to still play at their requested KO time and it will avoid the need to create a new division at the last moment, such as what happened in 2015 with the creation of the Gold Division. CF remains firm on the top 8 Divisions (CL - Division 6) to be paired, 10 team competitions. Under no circumstances will this be changing.

Although Division 7, 8, 9 and 10 will not be 10 team competitions, they will still play an 18 round season and wil play allocated teams at random. For example, if there are 12 teams in Division 7,  and 14 teams in Division 8, both competitions will still only play 18 rounds event though they will not be able to play each team twice. CF is not in a position to do redraws during the season or play midweek fixtures. Regardless of the number of teams in the division, they will all play 18 rounds.
